The Foundational Error in a Religion of Law

rlschultz has left a new comment on your post "Christianity declining 50pc faster than thought – ...":

A religion of the Law will always appeal to the Old Adam when it lacks the Means of Grace. This is why Islam, Roman Catholicism, and the megachurches always boast of their inflated memberships. This is also why Christians should never make the foundational error that their local congregations must always grow in numbers. Furthermore, when they accept that, they will attempt to use whatever means necessary to achieve numerical growth. This includes, but is not limited to buying an overpriced stinky failed bar, replacing the altar with an orchestra pit, and having greeters wear bright yellow T-shirts which say "Ask Me".

The nostalgia of the Boomers will
surely attract the youth.
As long as we can save
one precious soul with secular rock music,
badly played, it is worthwhile.

GJ - I noticed the references to St. Peter (WELS) in Freedom, Mr. Schultz. As I recall from Rick Techlin's detailed letter (still preserved on Ichabod), Glende insisted that he did not want to preside over the death of his congregation.

Therefore, administering poison in small doses is perfectly fine, and DP Doug approves. Just as mainline congregations become Unitarian in doctrine, St. Peter's in Freedom has become Pop Evangelical through preaching Craig Groeschel and Andy Stanley, worshiping like the Assemblies of God, and excommunicating anyone who objected. WELS and Missouri are following the same pattern, and so is the Little Sect on the Prairie.

They call Larry Olson, DMin, Fuller Seminary,
"Our Staph Infection."

The parson who got that going was Ron Ash, chairman of Church and Change. I noticed his Satanic presence when The CORE opened.

They must be doing wonderful things there, because everything is a secret. The newsletter is hidden. The bulletins are erased. A hired hand (Ski) supposedly resigns and nothing is said in the open, even though they publish weekly YouTube announcements. Of course, the announcements are mostly ads for the latest money-making projects.

Currently on sale, still brand new -

  1. Cases of The CORE hats.
  2. Sexual harassment training manual.
  3. Cases of The CORE sweatshirts.
  4. Brett Favre video.
  5. Cases of The CORE sunglasses.
  6. Bishop's Katie's resignation letter.
  7. Cases of crushed aluminum cans. Take them to the recycler and cash in, folks.
Bruce Becker got his precious drive-by DMin from Trinity in Deefield
after 5 years of study, so he was a WELS staffer,
a Church and Change board member,
and now a Jeske employee.
He rejects the Means of Grace but earns a living from
the Time of Grace as a staffer.
