One of the reasons abuse happens in the first place is because the perpetrator has a confidence of secrecy. If the perpetrator has confidence of a peer-group coverup, his inappropriate actions become even easier. Exposing perpetrators on the internet is best way to prevent this (because obviously going to your synod is not). Lillian, your blog will not only protect future victims, but also discourage pastors from becoming perpetrators. When people have a fear of being exposed, they are less likely to act inappropriately.

On another note, I understand your reasoning for not naming your perpetrator...you care enough to protect his wife and family, as well as yourself. However, I do feel you should expose the names of the synod personnel you approached who did not offer you help. They too are perpetrators. Once again, fear of exposure discourages inappropriate actions.
